We live in an age where everything has got to have a name, be classified and put in a box. We label things, people and places according to our own perspective and then we hope that it will be accepted by the masses.
A lot of artists of any kind have lost themselves trying to fit into some specific style or way of creating, and end up being boring or unable to express their true art. But not Renzo Piano.
Something strange happened to the world in the early 2000’s, maybe it was the economy, the rise of the almighty Internet, or the turn of the century, but people started to lose their sense of style and taste. I was very young at that time, but I remember older girls from my town wearing crop tops and jeans so low cut, that you could actually see the wearer’s natural hair color. Not a pleasant memory, don’t you think so?

It was an ordinary Tuesday afternoon when I, looking for a little adventure, found myself in front of a gallery and saw a sign near the door that read “Czech Avant-garde Photography (1920-1939) Open Now”. You can probably imagine my excitement!
The one that caught my eye and made a deep impression was the work of Jaromir Funke.
Style. We all have it whether we realize it or not. But what exactly is style? How can we define something so simple, yet so complex?
There are many definitions by famous fashion people. Diana Vreeland said that “Style helps you get down the stairs.” Gabrielle Chanel stated that “Chanel is above all a style.” The great beauty Lauren Hutton may have said the most accurate definition for style : “Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. Style is what you choose.”
Fly me to the moon, Chanel, and don’t take me back!
I always get excited about a Chanel show. It has it all, the clothes, the scenery, the music, the whole atmosphere is magical. But with this one, Karl outdid himself. I always wonder what will be the next theme, and what will the Chanel team now will think of, but I never possibly imagined that they will actually launch a rocket!

You meow meow, I Miu Miu!
This show combined two of my most favorite things in the world : Fashion and Hip Hop. Models walked on the beats by De La Soul, and I suddenly had the feeling that I was being transfered back in the late 80’s . What a time to be alive, huh?

Praising the old while blending with the new, on 22nd of February in Milan, Mister Alessandro Michele outdid himself with the latest Gucci show.
Reinventing past trends and fashions and at the same time playing with color palettes so well, Alessandro helped Gucci gain even more customers and admirers. Working for an already established brand, season after season he takes his creativity to the next level, and gives us the chance to peek into his very colorful mind.
Wait, is this Haute Couture or Ready-To-Wear? I’m confused…
The deconstructive collection had it all, pearls, feathers, nylon, lace, knit, wool, you name it, Burberry had it.
If the brand wanted to tell us they can do arsty, they did.
The show began with a very daring trench coat, succeeded by shirts with Mucnch-like portraits, Basquiat-like faces on sweaters, Elizabethan ruffle collars, metal capelets and statuesque outerwear. The bags were outstanding as ever.
With a collection as dark as a moonless night, Alexander showed us again that you can never own too much black. Making it his official color, it’s almost unbelievable how the designer plays with one particular color, season after season.
The party boy of Fashion with this collection tells us that there’s no after party, pants should follow the figure, over-sized jackets are still in and chains make the best bracelets.
