Chanel. One of the most luxurious fashion houses of our times. Creatively ruled by two of the most notable figures in the fashion world, Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld.
Karl Lagerfeld has been the designer for Chanel for 36 years, one of the most stabile and long term relationships in fashion love affairs. He was not fond of one-night stands when it comes to work, the Kaiser was a designer for Fendi’s fur line for 52 years.
“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world!” – Marilyn Monroe, famed for her sex appeal and love of fashion, once stated.
Well I say “Give a girl a Ferragamo shoe, and she can conquer the Universe!”
When it comes to design and practicality, no one can out-stand Italians. They are genetically inclined of producing beautiful things that can be useful in everyday life. There’s one particular Italian who used his talent to create a luxury company wearing his name and leave a mark in the broad world of design. No, his name is not Enzo Ferrari, the man I’m admiring today is Salvatore Ferragamo.

One beautiful sunny day, the next biggest designer, Simon Porte Jacquemus, was enjoying the Moroccan air. All the colors, all the people, all the animals he saw there affected and inspired him that day. “That has to be my next collection”, he said. So that is how Jacquemus Fall Winter 2018 was born.

For Chanel’s Spring 2018 Haute Couture collection, Karl Lagerfeld presented us the history of the house of Chanel. He used silhouettes from previous seasons, upgraded them to be prettier than ever. Pretty was the theme. Parisienne chic was the mantra.
Combining past and present, work and pleasure, sexiness and comfort, Chanel presented its Métiers d’Art 2017/2018 collection in The Elbphilharmonie, a concert hall in the HafenCity quarter of Hamburg, Germany. This amazing piece of archtecture and Karl Lagerfeld’s hometown were the inspiration for this collection. The concert hall, formerly a warehouse is a symbol of how beautiful reinvention can be, which is what the House of Chanel under the creative wing of Kaiser Karl has been doing with such excellence all these years.
On 26th of February in 1935 in Tunis, in a family of wheat farmers, a little boy with extraordinary talent was born. A boy who would change the world of fashion forever with his exquisite craft. That little boy grew up to be a man who danced on his own rhythm, saw no boundaries and knew that his art was valuable. That little boy grew up to be Azzedine Alaia.
